TED ACKERMAN   CELLO

Ted Ackerman began studying cello at the age of thirteen in Sarasota, Florida. He made several solo appearances with the Florida West Coast Symphony and Youth Orchestra. After graduating from The Juilliard School where he studied with Leonard Rose, he began a freelance career in New York City. Ted has worked prominently throughout the tristate area with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, New York Chamber Symphony, New York Pops, New York Philharmonia Orchestra and the New York City Opera. In addition to his concert stage appearances, he was involved in several televised concerts of Mahler’s Resurrection Symphony at Riverside Church under the direction of Neeme Jarvi, a production of ‘Danny Elfman’s music to Tim Burton Films’ at David Geffen Hall and as a member of the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra’s ‘Live From Lincoln Center’ series. Ted is a longstanding member with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra and the Broadway Production of ‘ The Phantom of the Opera’, Broadway’s longest running show where he has performed for over 33 years.
